Care and support

news-picChildren with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) benefit from the extra support and expertise of our specialist team of SEND staff at all stages. They help children to access the curriculum, support them through the transition to secondary education and prepare them for life beyond school.

In the primary phase, the class teacher is rightly the key person in pupils’ school life. At the secondary level, young people’s lives are more complex and the support we provide needs to reflect this. The form tutor remains an important person, but is complemented by a head of year who monitors students’ progress and achievement. Specialist support staff work alongside our teachers to provide students with the information, advice and guidance they need to plan their future lives and to support them in the issues of adolescence or through difficult personal circumstances.
