Synergy Multi-Academy Trust comprises ten Norfolk schools serving children between the ages of 2 and 18. Our schools work collaboratively together to raise standards and provide education of the highest possible standard, offering the best of opportunities for pupils. The Trust was initially established in 2015. We believe that all of our schools have strengths and areas to develop, and that all can improve through sharing expertise and wisdom. The Trust understands that there will be excellent practice in each school, and that every school will be able to contribute to the development of the Trust as a whole.
At Litcham Primary Phase, we believe that music is a unique and exciting form of communication that can change the way pupils feel, think and act. Furthermore, we feel there is great value in combining creativity with emotion that enables personal expression, reflection and development.
Music is taught throughout the school as a class subject and in cross-curricular way. The aim is to develop each child’s musical potential giving opportunities for self-expression and creativity. Every child has access to untuned musical instruments from EYFS upwards. As children progress through the school they learn how to play and compose using basic tuned instruments such as recorders and xylophones. Music appreciation is also taught and children learn about a range of genres and composers.
Instrumental tuition is available to all children. The children are taught individually or in small groups, children who play instruments are encouraged to develop their skill in school by joining the school band and playing in concerts. An cross phase music group is available where they can play with other musicians from the Secondary Phase.
Our year 6 pupils recently participated in the Norfolk Schools Opera Project, they composed, rehearsed and performed their own interpretation of Don Pasquale, by Donizetti. The final performance, at the Norwich Theatre Royal , was watched by nearly 1000 people.
