Ethos and behaviour

Visitors comment on the school’s pleasant atmosphere and sense of purpose.  We aim to create an environment in which work and study are valued and encouraged.  Good behaviour and relationships, built on mutual respect and trust, are essential for effective teaching and learning to take place.  We expect high standards of behaviour and self-discipline and we will contact parents/carers if we have concerns about their child’s behaviour.

At the start of Year 7 parents/carers and students are asked to sign a home-school agreement which sets out our expectations on behaviour.  If a student’s behaviour falls short of expectations, we have a graduated system of sanctions, including lunchtime and after-school detentions, internal exclusion and very exceptionally, fixed-term external exclusion.
